Natural fibers as sofa fabric: cotton, linen, wool

·

Cotton, linen and wool are all more sensitive to moisture than synthetic fabrics, but they behave differently from each other. Wool repels liquid from the surface better than cotton or linen, which absorb liquid straight away.

Do cotton and linen need special care?

Yes, both are sensitive to moisture and may change color or shrink if too much water is used. See also fabric.

Does wool sofa fabric behave differently?

Yes, the wool fiber surface naturally repels liquid, which makes it more stain-resistant than cotton or linen if you react quickly. If the liquid gets inside the fiber, you still need to handle it as carefully as with other natural fibers.

Can a wool sofa be cleaned with an upholstery extractor?

You need to be careful with moisture on wool, as too much water can make the fabric shrink. We always check the fabric type first and adjust the method and the amount of water accordingly.

How do you clean a sofa made of natural fibers?

We check the fabric on site and use a suitable method and amount of water. You can find the general principles of the whole process on the sofa cleaning page.

The same material assessment is also needed when cleaning armchair upholstery. Send a photo of the care label and the furniture so that we can agree on a suitable treatment.
