Wet cleaning vs dry cleaning for a sofa and mattress

·

For most sofas and armchairs we use wet cleaning (hot-water extraction with an upholstery extractor), because it gives a more thorough result. For memory foam mattresses and leather furniture we use dry cleaning, because too much moisture can damage them.

What is the difference between wet and dry cleaning?

In wet cleaning, a mix of water and cleaning agent is sprayed onto the fabric and sucked back out right away together with the dirt. In dry cleaning, very little or no moisture is used.

Why do you mostly use wet cleaning?

Wet cleaning suits most of our customers and gives a very effective result, because it sucks the dirt out of the fabric from deep inside.

When do you use dry cleaning?

We use dry cleaning for memory foam mattresses and leather furniture, where an upholstery extractor cannot be used.

Why is wet cleaning not suitable for a memory foam mattress?

Memory foam absorbs moisture and dries very slowly. If the moisture stays inside the foam, it creates a favorable ground for mold and the mattress can be damaged from the inside.

How do you clean leather furniture?

For leather we use dry cleaning, without an upholstery extractor. Read more on the leather page.

How do you clean a sofa?

For sofas and armchairs we use hot-water extraction cleaning with an upholstery extractor. You can find the whole process on the sofa cleaning page.
